The world at your fingertips

Twitter is the next big craze that is rapidly catching on. The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the new US President Barack Obama send out Tweets to notify the public and supporters of their activities. Large organisations such as Cisco and Sun Microsystems use Twitter to improve collaboration in the work place and the Los Angeles Fire Department used Twitter to coordinate its response to forest fires.

So what is it? Developed in 2006, Twitter is a free social networking service, that allows its users to send and receive text messages of up to 140 characters in length. These messages, known as tweets, are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Users can elect to ‘follow’ the tweets of their local politician, faviourite comedian, buinsess visionaries, cultural leaders, work collegues, friends and many more. It really does put the world at your fingertips.

tweet.IM makes this ‘world’ even more accessible by enabling users to create and receive tweets from within their existing instant messaging applications. As a result, they no longer have to keep signing in to a separate Twitter account, but can receive tweets with all of the immediacy of an instant message.

tweet.IM offers you the opportunity to:

  • Send and receive tweets more easily and quickly
  • Track who stopped or started following you
  • Extend the capabilities of your existing instant messaging application
  • Use an innovative new service, that is completely free of charge
